Sailed with Dan and Matt on Personal Puff. Rich Bowen, one of my bosses I report to, sailed with us as well.
Very interesting. The vision of the boat is ALWAYS 10-20 boat lengths ahead. We sailed one race.
Not too much to report. The rig was set up for low wind velocity, as well as the jib leads. They weren't touched throughout the race... even through the heavier spot. This was a result of getting out early before the start and being able to sail upwind and look at the sails/rig.
Rich sailed the kite really really well. He constantly trimmed and told Dan not to go any lower, or that he was too high. Matt plays the tack line when breeze goes light and the boat sails lower. Basically, if the tack line is perpendicular to the water or to windward, the tack goes off 6-10 inches. This proved to be fast. There is also alot more kinetics going on in the boat; especially downwind. I believe this will come with time.
It was fun, but doesn't compared to times had with surfer dude and Johnny Moseley. Can't wait to sail this weekend!
